? STATE BANK OF INDIA. SBI Debt-Equity ratio : 12. 43 (march'12) A high debt/equity ratio generally means that a company has been aggressive in financing its growth with debt. This can result in volatile earnings as a result of the additional interest expense. If a lot of  debt is  used to finance increased  operations (high debt to equity), the company could potentially generate more earnings  than it would have without this  outside financing. If this were to increase earnings by a greater amount than the debt cost (interest), then the shareholders benefit as  more  earnings are being spread among the same amount of shareholders.However, the cost of this debt financing may  outweigh the return that  the company  generates on the debt through investment and business activities and become too much for the company to handle. This can lead to bankruptcy, which would leave shareholders with nothing. The debt/equity ratio also depends on the industry  in which the c ompany operates. For example, capital-intensive industries such as auto  manufacturing tend to have a debt/equity ratio above 2, while personal computer companies have a debt/equity of under 0. 5. For individuals career management is one of the important tasks which should be arranged in order for theme to be employable, and successful in their work and life. As Handy (1976) said traditional careers are not compatible with new organisation structures. To be competitive in the work, employees have to be current with new technologies and skills, which will increase their employability. Another very important skills employees have to develop are relationships with colleagues and competitors, which will help in observation how the industry is changing, to be modern and competitive in the workplace. Psychological contract is a mutual obligation of employees and employers, this obligation can include promises and expectation from both parties of the contract. Over the years Psychological contract has changed dramatically due to changes in the economy. Psychological contract no longer gives job security, and mainly focuses on short term financial relationship (Atkinson, 2002). These changes put more responsibilities on employees and demand from them to be highly skilled, and marketable. Career planning also involves drawing action plans and making sure the plans are realistic. Planning is one of the tasks which are compulsory to remain employed and competitive in employment market. Planning of career must include variety of strategies carried out in order for the individual to be successful. In order to develop a career plan individual have to go through four steps: self assessment which helps people identify their skills and qualities, research which is design to introduce individual to job from inside, decision making requires individual to choose one of the options available, and lastly taking actions such as looking for jobs as well as keeping in touch with the people in the field (Zigelstain, T). Each of these steps is design to help individual find his ideal career based on skills and attributes of individual. Research conducted by Orpen (1994) shows that the employees who plan and use different tactics are more successful in their careers even if the tactics do not work. The responsibility of managing and planning the careers for individuals lies between the employers and employees, mainly because employment is seen as a relationship between these two parties. It is very important that there are different tasks assign to this two parties in order for them to work effectively. Then again career management on the organization side helps empl oyee become more successful, encourages workers to identify what they want, it also support self-development (Barnet & Bradley 2007). Involvement of the organisation in career management brings confidence to an employee which makes them feel their careers are better. Taking in the account the fact that in today’s world people will frequently change jobs- as indicated by Bureau of Labour Statistics 64% of individuals change job between 5 to 14 times in their life (Loretto 2010)- responsibility of managing career is principally placed on the individuals themselves. In the conclusion it is vital to saying that the career management and planning is very important in individuals’ career. Cancer

Cancer is a disease that affects millions of people worldwide. Hodgkin's disease (Lymphoma) is one of its forms. Lymphoma is essentially a type of cancer that begins in the lymphocytes (infection-fighting cells). These cells proliferate uncontrollably and are found in the lymph nodes, thymus, bone marrow, spleen and other parts of the body. When first diagnosed, information from tests is used to estimate a prognosis. This is often referred to as the extent of the lymphoma; staging is based on how much lymphoma there is in the body and where it is located. These tests are used to determine the size of the tumor, and if it has spread and where. After a proper diagnosis, a health team will then use the stage plan treatment. In order to diagnose, health team professionals look into the number of lymph node groups that have lymphoma; and if the lymphoma has spread to other areas of the body, including vital organs and tissue. The most common staging system for Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) is the Ann Arbor staging system. Normally, the higher the stage number, the more the disease has progressed. The first four stages are written in Roman numerals I, II, III and IV. During stage 1, lymphoma is in one group of lymph nodes, 1E: lymphoma is found in only one area outside of the lymph nodes (Lymph nodes with lymphoma are either entirely below or above the diaphragm) Stage 2: Lymphoma is in 2 or more groups of the lymph nodes, 2E: The lymphoma has also spread into tissue nearby, Stage 3: Lymphoma is found in both above and below the diaphragm, stage 4: The disease spreads completely and found in vital areas such as the bones, liver, lungs or cerebrospinal fluid. The Cerebrospinal fluid is a colorless, see through body fluid found in the brain and spinal cord. At this point the disease is usually fatal. This fluid serves a vital function in cerebral blood flow and autoregulation. The most common symptoms of this stage include confusion, other behavioral and personality changes, symptoms associated with pain and pressure within the brain (such as: Drowsiness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and headaches) losing eyesight and experiencing seizures may also occur. There is also an alphabetical category that divides HL. These letters may be added to the stage number: A- including no excess of sweat, weight loss, or fever. B- Inexplicable long-lasting fever, night sweats and weight loss. E- The lymphoma is found in tissue nearby the lymph nodes, commonly referred to as the ‘extranodal site' this is the involvement of the spleen, stomach, nervous system, lung, skin, bone, and Waldeyer's ring (which is the collection of lymphoid tissue surrounding the tonsils. S-The Lymphoma has fully spread to the spleen. X- Bulky disease spreads; it is essentially a larger version of the disease.On a day by day basis, research looks for better ways to stage and diagnose HL. Researchers are also trying to find ways to help doctors predict a more accurate prognosis (which, as mentioned above, is the probability rate that the cancer can successfully be treated and will not come back after treatment).Lymphocytes are one of the many white blood cells. They all have a different function. Their purpose is to fight disease and illness. The numerical ratio of lymphocytes to monocystesin in the blood may contribute to the prediction of a prognosis for different types of HL in various age groups. The use of this ratio helped doctors predict both progressive-less survival and overall survival rates. This ratio has also found that higher ratios of lymphocytes than monocytes are linked with better overall survival, especially in people younger than 60 years of age. Additional study is needed before doctors can use this ratio as a common tumor marker for predicting prognosis. Biomarkers are molecules found in body fluids and tissues. They determine whether there are molecules found in body fluids and tissues. They determine whether there are signs of a normal or abnormal process, or a disease. A biomarker is often used to see how well the body responds to treatment for a condition. Cells, tissue, genes, fluids, chromosomes and proteins are all biomarkers. Researchers study different biomarkers to try to find which ones are helpful at finding cancer or predicting prognosis and responses to treatment. A person with cancer usually contains abnormal amounts. For example, a protein may be found in higher than normal amounts or a chromosome that should be there is missing. At the present time, more than twenty tumor markers are being used to make cancer treatment-based decisions. Most tumor markers are concrete to one type of cancer, whereas others are related to several ones simultaneously. However some types of cancer don't have any known tumor markers yet. In order to better understand them, health specialists are looking at genes, proteins and other properties that could in prospect be used as tumor markers. This is formally known as tumor biobanking. Newly developing tumor marker tests can help doctors identify cancer earlier, improve prognosis and predict a more accurate diagnosis. By identifying targets for targeted therapy drugs, treatment can easily be chosen. They are part of the growing of medicine. Microarray analysis is a gene-based test that allows researchers to look at many genes at once. Analyzing many genes at the same time to see which are turned on and which are turned off is called gene expression profiling. This test can find genes that are turned on or off because of gene mutations or other genetic changes that may be related to a certain type of cancer. Doctors sometimes look at an entire gene or many genes together, along with DNA to see if there are changes. Gene-based tests differentiate healthy genes and genes that have been mutated into cancer cells. Genes are DNA pieces that tell each cell in your body what to do. Doctors can also use genes that are changed or mutated as tumor markers. Researchers have linked some genetic changes or mutations to cancer, but we are only beginning to uncover the full picture of which genes may or may not be involved. Researchers aspire to identify the best treatments and that more of them will be tailored to each person's cancer. A liquid biopsy, tests the blood or other body fluids for cancer. (called circulating tumor DNA) It looks for any signs of tumor in the DNA and in the blood and can be done on a sample of blood removed during a blood test. In a standard biopsy, a doctor removes tissue from the body with a procedure that usually involves surgery or a needle. Doctors then recommend treatments based on what this sample of tissue tells them about the cancer. A liquid biopsy is an exciting alternative to a standard biopsy. Researchers want to find out if using a liquid biopsy can find cancer as well as a standard biopsy does. Even if it can, a standard biopsy will probably be used for most people because it gives doctors a lot of useful information about the cancer. Although, having a liquid biopsy may be a good option for someone who isn't well enough to have a standard biopsy. A liquid biopsy may also be used if there isn't enough tissue to remove and test or if the tumor is in a place that makes a standard biopsy hard to do. A possible advantage of liquid biopsy may even be that it could provide information about the tumor that a standard biopsy can't. During a standard biopsy, only a small piece of the tumour is removed and tested. Tumor DNA that is circulating in the blood may contain different information that isn't seen on the tissue sample. A liquid biopsy may be most useful in looking for cancer that has come back as part of follow-up care after treatment has ended. Since tumour DNA may not be found in the blood right after treatment, it's best to test for tumor DNA a while after treatment is done. There's also a robotic biopsy that's supposed to remove cells or tissue to look at under a microscope. A robotic biopsy is often done by laparoscopy through five to six small surgical incisions. During robotic surgery, the doctor sits at a computer station close to the operating table, watches a monitor with live video and uses controls to move about three robotic arms that are connected to surgical instruments that remove tissue. Imaging is a way for doctors to find the exact location of cancer and to check for cancer that has spread. This Information from is used to stage cancer and help plan treatment. Imaging tests and devices, such as x-ray, MRI, ultrasound and CT scans, are a common way to zero in and confirm any diseases, including cancer. Imaging uses specific machinery and techniques to create images of the body's insides to see everything going on in it. During virtual endoscopy (an imaging test that uses a CT scan to create images of the inside of an organ) A computer reflects a three dimensional picture of the organ from several images. Doctors can use this three dimensional view to look at the lining of an organ similar to the ways they would during a regular endoscopic procedure. The only difference is that no endoscope is inserted. Researchers are looking at virtual endoscopy as one of the more practical ways to diagnose and stage most cancers. Radiation therapy treats most types of cancer quite effectively. But like other treatments, it often comes with its side effects very much different for each person. This varies depending on the cancer type, location and the radiation therapy dose, and your health, really. This is the reason why it is always a goal to only use if essential. To lower radiation doses, many imaging tests, such as CT scans and x-ray, use radiation. Imaging machines that use high doses of radiation, such as CT and nuclear medicine imaging tests, are being used more often than they were in the past. So researchers are trying to develop better guidelines to protect people from medical radiation, such as using these tests only during dire circumstances, tailoring radiation doses to each person based on their height and weight so that as little radiation as possible is used, using other tests without radiation such as ultrasounds. It's crucial to keep track of how much medical radiation you are being exposed to. After a successful treatment, if the cancer comes back in the same place that the lymphoma first started, local relapse took place. It may also come back in another part of the body though. When HL relapses, it usually comes back the same way it was before. This means that a low-grade HL relapses as a low-grade lymphoma. But it is plausible for a low-grade to relapse as a high-grade. This is considered an aggressive type of HL and means the lymphoma has not responded well to treatment and is progressive. Widowed, sixty seven year old, Concepcion Salazar was a mother of seven and grandmother of ten. They were known to be a wholesome, united family that lived through most of their days in peace and harmony. It all changed for them during February of 2007 however. Suddenly life stopped and seemed like it would never be the same again. They were just told it was likely that their mother had cancer. Concepcion was known to be an optimist. She was religious to heart and very much believed in having faith and hoping for the best. But she couldn't deny the weight she was rapidly losing and the lumps growing all around her upper body, so it didn't take much for her to attend the follow-up of the original doctor's appointment that would lead to the news. The trouble was that she had been having problems for well over six months maybe a year, but all those problems could be put down to common ailments. No one ever believes something like cancer could happen to them. She had slightly swollen lymph nodes that weren't quite painful but uncomfortable. As for the weight, they figured she was still coping with her husband's passing from a few months before. During the follow-up appointment right after being sent off to Mexicali, Mexico for a blood test, Xray scan, and CT scan, the doctor right away appeared to know something was wrong. The Salazar family says she was amazing and gave them all the information they needed warmly confirming the news, all while trying to put everyone's mind at ease. They were told it was Hodgkin's Lymphoma, but to their luck it was highly treatable. The fact that they have been told the odds were in their favor was actually an amazing thing. This gave them a positive outlook on such an ugly situation which is really the best outlook and attitude anyone could have during cancer. She had a PET scan, to see where the exact location of cancer was and if it had spread and a biopsy to remove a couple of visible lymph nodes. This was accomplished by a small operation and a surgeon. On the fifteenth of March, they were given a proper prognosis and told she had Stage 2 of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Treatment would consist of 6 months of chemotherapy. This was a twelve session treatment, which is essentially six four hour sessions of ABVD chemo every fourteen days. Depending on how it went, they said she might need radiotherapy after. Patricia, Concepcion's oldest daughter, says the appointment with the final results of the first treatment plan was the worst off them all. â€Å"It's a hit-or-miss, anticipated event where you're given all the facts and told all the things you never want to hear† She says it was when they first realized how much of a toll those six months had taken on all of the family. â€Å"You're overwhelmed by it all and just hoping that after this appointment, it will all be over† But of course, Concepcion never once showed any signs of distress or admitted the emotional turmoil amongst them, she realized she was sick but was quite stubborn! She never once complained about the pain, lethargy, loss of hair, never once refused to eat. In her mind she wasn't a victim of cancer, cancer was a victim of her! She was put into a two week steroid course with the purpose of strengthening her before the chemotherapy sessions started. They said it was a drag of a process, but to Concepcion's luck she always had one of her many family members keeping her company. The Salazar family happily look back and say they always tried to keep a positive ambience by trying to make hospital days, not just about the hospital. They'd go back home and have family gatherings and food, a solid family support system is one of the best medicines, they say. Concepcion had an interesting philosophy, when people asked her how she managed to always seem rather healthy and high on energy her response was always â€Å"the chemo experience is my experience, if I convince myself that I'll feel ill, I will† to everyone's surprise, she had no sickness or pain at all during her chemo. In fact, they hardly had to spend money on strong anti-sickness/pain medications. In the early days of the sickness everyone thought their lives had stopped, but they came to find out they still had their all-smiles mother that still interacted with her grandkids, prayed, made small-talk with random strangers. She was a beam of light to this world. Concepcion passed away on April 15th, 2008. About less than a month before, Mexicali experienced a 7.2 earthquake. Because of this, machinery used for checkups weren't working properly, and they missed her next appointment that would detect the cancer rapidly spreading. It had spread to her spinal and cerebral fluid, and she passed away in her sleep. In spite of her passing, Concepcion's story will always be an inspirational one. A positive attitude and support system goes a long way. Remember, we aren't victims of cancer, it's the other way around. Concepcion was lucky to have the people she cared about with her, but sometimes, even when you're with your loved ones, you might feel misunderstood and alone. People may miss the support they got from their health care team. This might be because many people have a sense that their safety net has been pulled away. It's important to actively look for emotional support in different ways. It could help you to talk to other people have or have had cancer, or to join a support group. Or, you may feel better talking to a counselor, church member, close friend, family member. There aren't a lot of support groups in my area, but there are in more prominent areas. There are also plenty online resources. Don't be afraid to seek for what it is you need. Cancer produces malignant tumors which Invade, compress, and eventually destroy healthy tissue. Drinking excess alcohol, excessive sunlight exposure, smoking, and obesity are some of the bad habits we practice. Cancer can be detected early using different apparatus and tests like MR.. Scan, CT scan, Complete Blood Count (CB) and Biopsy. The earlier we detect cancer, the lesser symptoms we'll experience and the chance to cure this disease before It spread all over our body.

The decision to downsize in 2000 followed the downsizing of already 300 production jobs for the company yet despite these decisions, profits for the company did not improve. As of December 1999, the company reported a $A 130-million loss, its worse in twenty years in Australia (Cook, 2000). In 1997, the Howard government suspended plans to end tariff protection for the car industry until 2010 due to pressure from car manufacturers and threats by Mitsubishi that it will wind-up production in Australia. This was initially regarded as guaranteeing job security for worker, but despite the existence of tariff protection, major restructuring and downsizing still continued in Mitsubishi. The reason is that downsizing is attributed not to the company's national performance but to a major global restructuring program announced by Mitsubishi in October 2000 to cut costs by $US 3 billion by 2001. The plan involved cutting 9,900 jobs from the company's international workforce of 88,800 over a span of four years. Daimler-Chrysler is demanding Mitsubishi to take drastic steps to reduce its huge debt and that the company focuses its future investment in more efficient production plants in Malaysia and Thailand (rather than Australia) where there is cheaper labour and favourable local investment incentives (Cook, 2000). In addition to these problems, Mitsubishi is also burdened by a failed vehicle financing scheme in the U.S. and losses amounting to approximately $US 2.8 billion in 2003. The overt impact of Hulls piece is that of geometrical expressionism, using a complex geometrical shape to express theme. In my opinion, Hulls Spike Sphere is meant to represent no less than the entire human cosmos in a single figure of origami. I said human because the piece reflects a particularly human concept of wholeness as in other geometrical abstractions: globes, the atom, stars, galaxies and even some scientific models of the multi-verse.     Hulls figure is spherical and colored like a budding flower, but spiked suggesting pain, danger, emotional response. This precise configuration of human emotion and abstract form, coupled with organic coloring and an holistic gesture elevates Hulls piece to the highest levels. This work is a masterpiece which reveals the origami, as a medium, embodies much more than the stunned admiration for technique and cleverness associated with folding paper creatively and expressively.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The impact of placing such a diverse collection of works that all make use of a similar medium and technique shoulder to shoulder in an exhibition   like the Origami NOW! exhibition is to invite the viewer to explore the full range of capacities that a medium and technique have to offer. One of the purposes of this research is to gain a comprehensive understanding of Chinese consumers responses of sex appeal advertising; what are the responses of Chinese audiences when they are exposed to sex appeal advertising? Does sex in commercials sell for Chinese consumers? This study could help the managers who targeting Chinese market understand the attitude and responses of the specific type of sexual content in advertising. This study will also investigate the specific type of sexual appeal which might cause public offence. Recognizing the audiences attitude and acceptance of specific sexual content in advertising might increase the effectiveness of usi ng sex appeal in television in Chinese market. 2. To understand the differences and similarities of consumer responses exist in both countries. Literature Review The definition of sex in advertising Since the 1800s, markets and advertisers have used sexy words and images to sell certain products. Along with the emergence and popularity of sexual advertisements, numerous studies have been carried out in this field. American social scientist Byrne (1982) deemed that sexual advertisements are a type of advertising with ascribed sexual meaning. Courtney and Whipple (1983:p.103) defined sex in advertising as à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“sexuality in the form of nudity, sexual imagery, innuendo, and double entendreà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦ employed as an advertising tool for wide variety for products.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬? As noted by Gould (1994), sex in advertising is typically visual (physically attractive models, depictions of sexual behavior with partners or alone) but can also include verbal innuendo and explicit copy. In 2001, Reichert et al. cited that in the context of advertising, sex has been general considered as a tool of persuasion to draw attention to certain products or brands. By its very nature, advertising is a form of persuasion communication. (Thorson, 1990), As such, sex could be used to as persuasive message to promote products and brands. In 2003, Reichert pointed out that sex in advertising can be thought of as a sexual appeal that involve many factors and forms such as nudity, physical attractiveness, sexual behavior and double entendre (Reichert, 2003). Whatever presentation of the sex, the important underlying conceptual commonality is that the information evokes sexual thoughts and feelings in the viewer (Reichert, 2003: 234). Does sex sell? The previous study indicated that with sexy illustrations advertising can effectively grab consumers attention and improve recall of the commercial message. Sexual appeals have been shown to be more attention. Marketing researchers in this area investigated reactions of individuals to certain sexual appeals in advertising and explored reveal how sexual stimuli evoke reactions in individuals, and how these reactions may influence consuming behaviors. The goal of an advertisement is to promote products or services in an effective manner to attract the most people. If an advertisement cannot grab peoples attention, then it cannot affect their likelihood to buy that product. Thus, advertisers seek to make their commercials noticeable to their audiences. Consequently, marketing studies in this area often investigated whether marketing effectiveness of sexual advertising is improved by comparing audiences attentions between sexual and non-sexual advertising. Alexander and Judd (1978) found that nudity and erotic content in ads can increase consumer attention to an advertisement but not necessarily enhance the brand recall and brand evaluation. In the study carried out by Marilyn et al. (1998), sexual appeals have been found to be more attention-getting, likeable, dynamic and more likely to increase a consumers interest in the topic than were nonsexual appeals. The previous research shows that with sexy illustrations advertising can effectively grab consumers attention and improve recall of the commercial message. Sexual appeals have been shown to be more attention. However, sexual appeals that are attention grabbing can also fail to enhance brand recall and brand evaluation of advertising. Many studies found that brand recall from non-sex-containing advertising is higher than that from adverts that do contain sexual content (Steadman 1969; Alexander Judd, 1978; Courtney Whipple, 1983). Individual Difference and Product Type Previous study indicated that individual differences of consumers and product type promoted in ads should be considered when predict the effectiveness of using sexual appeal in commercials. The gender differences and different cultural background of consumers could impact their attitude toward sex contained advertising, moreover, the different product type promoted in sex appeal ads could influence consumers attitude as well. Male and female represent distinct differences when they were exposed to sexual content. Men showed more tolerance of sexual theme and content, meantime, their attitude toward sex appeal ads itself and associated brand were more positive than their women counterparts (Steadman, 1991). In 2004, Pope et al. considered gender differences as an independent variable of impact on consumers attitudes toward sex appeal advertisements. The finding indicated that compared to males, female consumer were more tended to responses positively to mild sexual appeal in adverts. People from different countries have distinct attitudes and opinions of sexual content contained in commercials. The research shows that in continental European countries, such as Denmark, Germany, Italy and France, consumers generally showed tolerance of nudity in advertisements (Frith Mueller, 2003). In fact, according to a focus groups survey launched out by Tissier-Desbordes and Manceau (2002), French women typically regard female nudity and sexuality as aesthetic rather than sexual and erotic appeal. Wheras, Fetto (2001) carried out a public opinion survey in the U.S. focuses on peoples opinion toward sexual image in print advertising, majority people express that they do not like much sex in print ads and will boycott products which applied sexual appeal to promote. Meanwhile, compared to the U.S. consumer, British consumer showed an even stricter attitude toward female nudity in commercials (ITC, 2003). The previous research also indicated that influenced by traditional social and cultural values, people who live in countries in Asia and the Middle East tend to be more conservative than the US and Europe with respect to sexual content in adverts ( Frith Mueller, 2003). In addition, people were more likely to accept products and have positive attitude toward brand when they could see clear congruence between the products and the sexual content. Beauty and personal care products could easily be associated with sexual content and so increase the recall and acceptance among audiences (Gunter; 2002; Cheng, 2002). When consumers could not found clear relationship between the product type and sexual content they were more easily to be offended and harm the brand evaluation. The Sexual Content Might Cause Public Offence in Britain and China In Britain, IBA (Independent Broadcasting Authority) carried out a serious public opinion surveys in 1980s. This work was concerned, especially, with the publics acceptance not just of sexual treatments in advertising, but with the advertising of products that were associated directly or indirectly with sexual matters (Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA, 1988). The finding shows people find advertisements that featured sexual matters or promoted products for personal hygiene deeply offensive, only 16% audiences admitted that they had been offended by advertisements. The greatest source of these offensive advertisements is related to nudity or sexual content. The majority of audience (70%) said they would not feel embarrassed by watching sanitary protection products on screen. In a later survey, more than 1,1000 UK television viewers were asked if they had ever been offended by television advertisements in this study. Most people expressed they did not think AIDS, contraceptives or condoms advertisements would cause offence. However, majority of British Viewers felt uncomfortable when faced by advertisements for homosexual advice services and Homosexual related products. In 1994, ITC research comprised focus groups and depth interviewer to investigate audiences attitude toward different degrees of nudity in advertising. The finding indicated that nudity was regarded as more acceptable when it was relevant to the product and appeared after 9 pm. The data of focus groups revealed that the suggestive and partially nude seems to could be accepted by audience in any time, semi nude and back nude could be accepted after 9pm, full-frontal nude and sexual intercourse imply or explicit scenes were unacceptable by audience (ITC 1998). In 2004, British researcher Andrea and Lloyd carried out a focus groups survey to examine the consumer attitudes towards female nudity in advertising. The data from focus groups that consumers are more accepting of female nudity in adve rtising when they see a clear congruence between the sexual content and the product, message or positioning. There have been many fewer public opinion surveys on sex contained commercials in China. The only substantial studies we have located are that conducted by Cheng in Hong Kong in 2002. This survey used questionnaire which aimed at identifying what kind of advertisements consumers find offensive. The finding indicates that commercials promote contraceptive products were considered as more offensive than ads about female and males underwear. This study also pointed out that whether an audience will feel offended by advertising on the appeal than the product itself. Relevance to my study The review of previous research may contain clues about how specific aspects of advertising can exert effects on consumers. It provides useful inputs to methodology. The review of previous studies in this field could help to understand that how consumers responses to sex appeal should be studied and analyzed. Three important elements, attitudes towards the ad, the brand and buying intention were adopted for testing the effectiveness of sex appeal in this study. The review of relative gender-role stereotyping studies offers the theoretical basis for examining the men and womens different attitudes when they were exposed to sex contained advertisement. In addition, the previous cross-national comparison work, especially those compare sexy advertising in western and eastern cultural context, offers more detail what we already know about cross-national comparison into consumers responses to sex appeal advertising. Methodology Given the nature of my project, qualitative research approach would be the best way to fully tackle the research questions. This paper will apply focus groups to examine peoples attitude and opinion toward sex in advertising. It also tries to explain the differences existed in the Chinese and British consumer towards sexual appeal advertising. Participants For focus groups, Chinese and British participants will attended in group session to discuss their opinion and attitude toward sexual appeal in advertising base on their individual experiences. In total, 32 participants will take part in this study and were divided into 4 groups: Chinese females, Chinese males, British males, and British females. All participants are university students in LSC. Procedure Each of group would be asked to watch several advertisements contained different level of sexual content. Some advertisements only contain mild sexual content such as soft kissing, embracing, and suggestive nude), others contain high level sex appeals such as half nude, making out and sexual intercourse implied). The product types promoted in those sex contained ads are varying from beauty and personal care stuffs to electronic products. After that, participants would answer questions regard to their attitudes toward ads itself, brand and buying intention, and each participants will be required to discuss the question with others. Focus group will run for around 90 minutes. All discussion will be taped for data analyzing.

Most early programming for children of school age in the 1950's was the western program. Another type was the science-fiction thriller which tended to be based on hero's from the radio, comics, and films. However, a favorite of the youngest audience was the children's equivalent of the variety show. This usually contained circus, puppet, and/or animal segments. "Super Circus", which aired in 1949, consisted of music, circus acts, animals, and of course, clowns. In 1952, yet another type of program came about which reached a very similiar audience as the circus variety shows. It was called "The Ding Dong School". The Ding Dong School offered the conversation, low-key instruction, commercials, and entertainment of Miss. Frances, a professional teacher. With the help of these types of shows, a new genre was born. Children's television which was a mixture of songs, education, fun, and a whole lot more. In 1969, the first airing of "Sesame Street" took place. Sesame Street had programs which were sponsored by different letters of the alphabet or numbers each day, and relied on very short, animated cartoons with live and puppet segments which kept the interest of preschool children. The show was an instant outstanding success, and still broadcasts today. In 1970, "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood" was born. Mr. Fred Roger's used puppets and music to teach patience and cooperation, while providing guidance to help children cope with feelings and frustrations. Mr. Roger's land of makebelieve's handpuppet characters interacted with humans in the mythical kingdom of King Friday XIII. There, the puppets and humans would deal with their feelings and emotions as they solve typical, everyday problems. This new genre of programming was a sensation. The children loved it, and the parents approved of it. During the following years, many new shows came about which still fit this genre. In the year 1986, yet another show was born into childrens television. "Pee-Wee's Playhouse". This series, starring host Pee-Wee Herman (Paul Reubens) used animation, puppets, and vintage cartoons to entertain and educate its audience. Between Pee-Wee Herman and his extraordinary playhouse, children were given the opportunity to let their imaginations go crazy. The "playhouse" had no permanent residents, that is, besides the furnishings. Not ordinary furnishings, you see, Pee-Wee's furnishings could move, talk, dance, and sing. These "characters" could be seen at the playhouse on a regular basis. Europeans did what they wanted with the Native Americans, and when a group of Native Americans would stand up for themselves, the European would quickly put them down. The Native Americans bow and arrows where no match for the Europeans guns and cannon balls. When the Europeans guns didn’t work for the Europeans, the disease they bought killed the Native Americans even more effectively. The Women in Dracula Essay -- European Literature Bram Stoker Vampires

The Women of Dracula Throughout the book Dracula, the author, Bram Stoker, portrays many different aspects of women's roles in the 19th century. Since this novel was published many films have been created based on Stoker's story line. Nosferatu, a silent film, depicts the women of the story, other than Mina, as minimal characters. The movie Dracula, filmed in the 1930's, stays very true to the novel, with only minor changes to the characters and plot. All three of the works depict the same women differently, thus changing the complete literary artistic nature of each piece. Mina is the main female character in the novel Dracula. She is the typical Victorian woman--caring, compassionate and completely devoted toward their loved ones (To The Life of the Victorian Women). She is Jonathan Harker's fiancà ©e and later wife, and is faithful to him throughout the entire novel. When Jonathan first meets Dracula, he becomes very ill. Mina quickly runs to his aid. She becomes completely consumed in figuring out why her husband is so terribly sick. She is intensely devoted to him and does not give up until Jonathan is nursed back to good health. In the novel, after Dracula pursues and kills her best friend Lucy, she joins the team of men that are trying to put an end to him. Dracula starts pursuing Mina, and decides to make her his slave. When Dr. Seward saw Mina after her encounter with Dracula, he was very concerned, stating, "When Mrs. Harker came in to see me this afternoon she wasn't the same; it was like tea after the teapot had been watered" (Stoker 240). The search party decides to keep Mina out of the group, so Dracula cannot read her mind and figure out their plan. Mina, putting the search party before he... ... of women. However, in the silent film Nosferatu, the women have more miniscule roles. The movie Dracula shows most of the same aspects that Stoker uses in his novel portray the women characters.
